Designer Ring Prototypes

How can we do the open showcases without getting ripped off? In the jewellery business, it’s called “glass and brass”. The rings you’re trying on are prototypesmodels …castings. We don’t make the real ring until after you’ve decided on the style and diamond that best fits who you are. Then we send your order to our Vancouver studio and one of our hand-picked designers builds it from scratch.



Wide-Open Showcases

Pleasantly surprised with the ‘elegance factor’, your attention will shift to the open showcases. We can’t help but laugh sometimes because people literally stand there moving their hand in and out for a few seconds. The concept is so foreign they’re suspicious some invisible door is going to come slamming down. But that doesn’t happen. You’re left to browse at your own pace, trying on as many ring designs as you like without having to ask for assistance.

Prices on Every Ring

There’s nothing worse than getting your heart set on a particular ring only to find out its way over budget. That doesn’t happen at Spence. Each ring design comes tagged with an ‘average price’ so you can determine on the spot whether it’s a ring you even want to consider. And that’s your starting point. From there the only reason the price changes is if you choose a diamond that is more rare, and thus more expensive, than the one we used to calculate the price on the tag.

A Revealing Diamond Education

People are going to be asking about your diamond for the rest of your life, and you want to be able to tell them all about it when they do. Nobody has a more up-close and transparent diamond presentation than Spence. Together we’ll go over all the factors relevant to buying a diamond. We’ll put your diamond under a Binocular microscope to show you clarity, we’ll use GIA Facetware software to show you cut, and we’ll turn on theDiamondlite to get a true read on colour. After twenty minutes, you’ll be your own diamond expert.

You’re really going to enjoy looking at diamonds through the Binocular microscope. It uses dark field illumination to magnify the stones at 10X. You’re basically peering into the diamond to see all its inclusions and beauty marks close-up.

You come into the nearest Spence on a scouting mission, choose some ring styles you’d be proud to wear, and record the style numbers on your Wish List. If you want us to email it to him, we can. If you want us to hang onto it until he gets here, we can do that too. You tell us how you want us to handle it, and we’ll make sure your tastes are reflected in the ring he chooses.
